We published this article many years ago, and now as World Profit approaches our 25th year in business, I re-read it to see if it still applies and smiled – it does. We hear from people all over the world every day, they want to earn online. They seek out our advise on exactly how to do that. Our first step is often to assess if they have a realistic attitude about what is required to grow an online business. Some don’t want to put that much time or effort into it, they just want to share some links and sit back on their beach chair and get a notification on their phone of a sale. Others, realize that it takes time, effort and a system to earn from affiliate marketing. It’s those people that we focus on, those with a realistic reference not a afraid of that 4 letter work – WORK. Those people who understand that being a success at anything in life means focus and consistent effort using a proven time-tested system, throw in your own brand of determination and you are on your way. The Internet is a massive place, if this person isn’t interested in your offer the next person is waiting. The more you post, the more you promote, the more you connect with people, the MORE sales you make. Be nice, build relationships with people and you will gain lifetime customers, not to mention feel good about your online business. If you can’t do that or don’t want to do that you will never make it as a successful marketer. I will say it again, BE Nice!

If you are that means investing the time, and effort into learning and DOING the tasks required, failing, making mistakes then continuing toward your goal.

Eliminate or at least filter out the negative people in your life. You know who they are, the ones that tell you it will never work. They say you are crazy to spend so much time online. The people who are telling you all the reasons why you can’t do it, while you yourself are actually doing it. Don’t be smug though, when you start getting results, simply smile and give yourself a pat on the back. You are one of the truly unique, a rare breed. You think, you do, you tune out the negative and simply focus on doing what you need to do to achieve your goals.

Be realistic. Don’t start promoting online thinking you are going to get rich overnight, or even in a few weeks or months. Put on a "HYPE FILTER" to filter out all the bunk, promises and fake pitches you hear and see. Believe only that with hard work and consistent effort you will get results. Believe in yourself to build your own success not in the pitches that making money online is easy or instant.

Set realistic goals for your earnings, and be prepared to grow your business over time. Build your online resources, build your lead list, build your customer list, grow your profits by nurturing your business. Your business is a tender green shoot, care for it daily and you will have an oak tree some day. Forget to water, neglect, vacation for too long and you will be left with a dead twig.

Get help. You’re not going to do this alone, nor should you. Find online marketers, online communities, facebook groups, mentors, like-minded people who think like you do. Network, share, support, give and get back. Ask yourself how much time you are going to commit to building your online marketing business. If your answer is an hour a day fine, set a goal, stick with it. If it’s 4 hours a day, stick with it. Have an open-mind. Online marketing is not taught in school, you are an entrepreneur and thus made of a unique kind of tenacity and grit. They don’t give up, they don’t know it all, they seek solutions, make mistakes, they get up and try again. Be a DOer not an analyst, not a deep thinker, not a planner, but someone who rolls up their sleeves digs in, gets dirty and insists on results.

I’ve been in the online home business industry for over twenty years as a business owner, a coach, and a marketer. I’ve seen it all. People come in, happy, eager, determined. Some last a few days, some a few months. Then you get down to a very small percentage of people, the truly determined, the people I have worked with for years. The one common trait the winners, the non-quitters all have is – are you ready for this?

RESILIENCE. These people weren’t the top of their class, they weren’t the bottom, they are average people who have the ability to recover quickly from difficulties, from a tough life, from a path full of bumps and obstacles. Who among us doesn’t have "stuff" in our lives, problems, distractions that keep us from achieving our goals. The difference is how you recover from it and go on.

Here’s the actual definition of RESILIENCE from Merriam Webster Dictionary (remember those, yes I still have a hard covered version 😉

Resilience

: the ability to become strong, healthy, or successful again after something bad happens

: an ability to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change

We offer a number of advertising services at Worldprofit for affiliate marketers.

Our customers post ads at our sites for their Affiliate program to generate leads and sales.

I am continually amazed at how many of the Affiliate Links submitted are dead after just a few weeks, or months.
The web page gone, nothing left but an error message starting at me, PAGE NOT FOUND.

Where do these websites go?

There’s more then one possible answer to that question.

Some affiliate programs come out hot. They’ve got impressive squeeze pages, polished videos and glossy presentations.
They promise you the world. They get you in, get your money, then they are gone.

In the affiliate marketing industry some of these unscrupulous vendors even have an expression for what they knowingly plan out then do, they call it

The Pump and Dump.

They get you in with the incredible pitch and promise, then deliver (or not) something of low or no value, then they disappear.

Other sketchy vendors rely on

The Bait and Switch method.

They promise you this, instead you get that, not what you were promised, and not what you paid for, then they disappear. No response to phone calls, emails, or support requests, simply vanished. Bye bye.

Some companies that are designed to be "here today and gone tomorrow", pitch products with catchy names instead of operating under a company name. The reason? They can pitch then drop the product instantly when the authorities catch up with them, or the online reviews get to many, or their payment processor flags them then shuts them down completely. Sadly for you, for these companies their goal from Day 1, is to make as much money as possible then to disappear before anyone catches up to them.

So what do you look for to make sure you don’t fall prey to one of these schemes?

  1. Ask yourself, is what I am being told realistic? Honestly. If some one wants to sell you a product for $12 and tells you it’s worth $1200 you’ve got to question that. Look for actual VALUE.
  2. Be aware that a common practice in some (not all) affiliate marketing pitches, is to tell you the cost is small. So you buy in for $10, then there’s the upsell for $27 and another upsell for $47 and another one for $97, then you can get the big enchilada for another $197 – and still you don’t have what you need to actually do anything, and what you do have is of little value. Before you bite, determine what exactly are you getting and is it worth it, is the value true or is it hype, and what’s the refund policy for the product or service.
  3. Be aware that we now live in a world of fake. It’s the new reality. Reviews can be faked, video endorsements can be paid for, testimonials can be generated by software, bots spit out fake leads, IP addresses can be spoofed. You may not be a sophisticated techie but you are smart. Look for what seems ridiculous, look for what seems unlikely and implausible, when you see it you will know it Use your head. If you buy Product XYZ for $3 you are not going to become a Millionaire. If you buy Product ABC you are not going to get rich overnight, without doing any work, laying on a beach in Tahiti. Don’t fall for this.

Sound logic and reason must prevail in your decision making to protect your hard earned money. Keep these points in mind.

  • One fancy product or glitzy gadget is not the SECRET to making money online.
  • Starting and growing ANY business to the point where you are making consistent money takes time and effort.
  • Understand that if you want to rely only on FREE stuff as your method of choice to earn online, you will have limited success and it will take you a long time to get anywhere. You’ll get frustrated. Guess what free sites and services do? They often DISAPEAR and with it your links, your blog, your free platform for your business. Poof. All gone. All that time you spent trying to save a buck is a wasted effort. If you rely solely on free ways to grow your income, you are not thinking like a business owner or someone who at least wants to be serious enough to make some actual money.
  • Why would you think you could make MILLIONS as an Affiliate marketers with little time, little knowledge and no training? Doctors, lawyers and engineers, PLUMBERS make lots of money, guess what they had to do first? Learn, train, invest a lot of time, effort and brain power, not to mention money, into their profession.
  • Making money online is like ANY offline business, you have to take the time to learn how to market online and you need a system to follow to generate leads and sales. Finally, you need mentorship, guidance, support and training to bring it all together. Once you have that system and training then YOU need to do the work and after more then two decades in this business, I can guarantee you starting your profitable business won’t happen on a beach with a Margarita and a cell phone in your hand.

Bill, can you share a little information with us about you?

I am Bill Darton, family man, from St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. My wife and I got married way back in 1984. We had two children, each of which has recently given us a grandchild. Throughout our married life I was the primary income earner or the sole income earner.

When I was younger and full of energy it didn’t seem so bad being a workaholic. As the years went by, I came to the realization that there had to be a better way to make a living. Eventually the Internet Marketing Industry found me. Like so many others, the idea of making money online was just too irresistible to ignore.

Also like so many others, it was a struggle to make it work in a meaningful way. In reality it was just an expensive hobby not unlike any other hobby that anyone might pursue. But this wasn’t supposed to be a hobby. It was supposed to add to my lifestyle not take away from it.

It eventually became apparent that I needed to step back and take a serious look at what I was doing and figure out how to turn this ship around. After taking a deeper look at what others were doing, the "secret" began to reveal itself to me. And that secret was not the traffic, not the tools, not the products… it was the system.

Bill, what was the reason or reasons for your initial interest in becoming a Member at Worldprofit?

The "System" is the secret!

Haven’t we all said on one occasion or another, "If only I knew then what I know now" I decided to let go of everything I was doing already and pretend I was starting over. How would I do it differently, knowing what I know now.

So I set out on a mission; to find a system that would be full-scale with all the tools, training, products and traffic. At first I didn’t even know for certain that such a system even existed. So I investigated many, tried a few and ultimately ended up with Worldprofit.

It was actually my sponsor, Bill Carr, who sent me a link to look at Worldprofit because he was integrating it into his system (there’s that word again!). Just like me, I knew Bill to be very particular about the programs that he supports and promotes. Which was reason enough for me to give Worldprofit an honest assessment. The timing couldn’t have been better because I had just bailed out of another system that I had become extremely frustrated with and was looking to investigate another alternative.

Several things about Worldprofit appealed to me right away.

  • A. There was a free membership, not a free trial. Worldprofit does not kick you out after a week or a month if you don’t upgrade. You can remain a free member for as long as you like.
  • B. There is training available – limited for free members but there is also an extensive "Internet Marketing Bootcamp" available to Silver Dealers (upgraded members).
  • C. They also had products to sell that were one-off purchases – no need for a subscription – just buy traffic if you want, when you want.
  • D. They have a "Live Business Center" – live monitors are available to answer your questions, help you find things and explain the benefits of the Worldprofit systems, tools, traffic and resources. Of course they are also doing this for your referrals which means they are closing sales for you.

Bill, can you share some of the reasons that you continue as a loyal Member of Worldprofit? How long has it been?

That was my introduction to Worldprofit back in late April of 2016. Essentially, the Live Monitor made me an offer I couldn’t refuse so I upgraded right away. I was a monthly subscriber for about three months and then realized how much money I would save and switched to the annual Membership. Now I don’t have to worry about pesky monthly payments and can just focus on training and marketing.

Continuing and maintaining my Worldprofit Silver Dealership was the proverbial "No Brainer" (actually, I hate that expression but it somehow seems appropriate here) because I started making money pretty quickly. Not big money at first, but enough sales to keep me interested. It actually took me until November that year to make my first Annual Silver Dealer sale. I can assure you, there is nothing more exciting than waking up in the morning, checking your email and seeing a notice for a $200* commission you received while you were sleeping – especially a month before Christmas! Eventually my sponsor contacted me to explain how i was making so many annual sales. Over time I realized that Worldprofit was the first thing I ever promoted that actually provided a consistent income month after month.

Aside from the money there is the fact that Worldprofit provides every essential need for building a business online so, why would I ever think about leaving or going somewhere else.

Bill, do you have any words of advice for someone looking for an online business or considering joining Worldprofit?

Anyone who truly desires to build a business online should give Worldprofit your most serious consideration. Even if you are skeptical, you can join as a free member and get a feel for what Worldprofit can do for you. At the very least, be an honest skeptic. What do I mean by that? Take the time to investigate. Don’t rely on opinions or personal feelings. Get to know the Live Monitors. They are a tremendous resource. Contact your sponsor. Find out what is working for them. See if they will partner with you or mentor you in some way – your sponsor has a vested interest in your success. Contact Worldprofit’s support team. They are extremely resourceful, caring and patient.

Allow yourself to learn and grow. As with anything new you do in life, there is a learning curve. There will be obstacles, mistakes and disappointments along the way. Sometimes you will even have to realize that your initial expectations were not realistic – don’t buy into the hype everyone else is selling.

Another important piece of advice is to not allow yourself to get overwhelmed. Worldprofit was designed to give you everything you need to build a business online. Nothing is left out – nothing else is needed. However, that does not mean that you have to get everything set up in a day or two. As a matter of fact, I will tell you right now, you can’t do it in a day or two. Trust the process, take it one step at a time. When you look back six months later you will be amazed at how far you’ve come.

Bill, you are a Monitor who generously volunteers your time to help others in Worldprofit’s home business community. Can you offer some reasons why you enjoy being a Monitor?

Doing anything online is always more fun and rewarding when you feel like you are part of a community. Quite often we say I am "in" this program or "in" that company. For me, just being "in" was not enough. I wanted to be "involved" instead. Being a monitor is not required but it is something that really appeals to me because it allows me to assist people through the process. Not only do I enjoy teaching people about the business but I also learn a lot as well. It’s truly a Win-Win situation for everyone involved.

Bill, what are some of the tools and resources in your Worldprofit Membership that you find most helpful in growing your own online business?

Some of my favorite tools are; The Link Cloaker – no matter what you promote, you are also promoting your own domain at the same time. The Ad Tracker – lets me know what’s working and what’s not working so I can always finetune my marketing. The Contact Manager – too much to get into here. Just say Wow! And, the "Associate Signup Sources" link is truly remarkable. So much can be said about all the tools really.

Bill, can you rate on a scale of 1 – 10 then comment on the quality of services, training and support offered at Worldprofit?
A rating of 1 would be Poor, a rating of 10 would be Outstanding.

I think Worldprofit is an outstanding program that works for anyone whether you are a beginner, novice or pro. Personally, I would be tempted to give it a 9.5 out of 10 with my only knocks being nit-picky type stuff like how the site is organized, it could be more modernized in the member’s area and some of the products (PLR in particular) could be updated. But, as far as what matters when you are building your business, the rest of it is a 10 out of 10. The Support team is friendly, informative and very patient. The products are effective and reasonably priced. The training is extensive and easy to follow at your own pace.

Bill, anything else you would like to share with others about your experiences with Worldprofit ?

One thing I think is really under-rated is the Certified eBusiness Consultant program. Just like the Live Monitor system, it is unique to Worldprofit. I feel more could be done to promote this side of the business so it is actually a project that I am taking on myself.

In closing I would once again encourage people to take Worldprofit seriously. Not to over-simplify things but, to be successful you need to:

  • A. Build Traffic, to….
  • B. Generate Leads, which ultimately leads to…
  • C. Making Sales!

My name is William Buck. I’m a former Machinist at Phillip Morris, and Retired Former Sergeant at United States Air Force.

William, what was the reason or reasons for your initial interest in becoming a Member at Worldprofit?

With a bad spine and living in pain, I knew that there were more things I could do. So I go about the business of the day and knew that Worldprofit is the place for me. My determination is to continue in the most positive way and Worldprofit has helped me do that.

William, do you have any words of advice for someone looking for an online business or considering joining Worldprofit?

An old adage, "God helps those who help themselves". No one epitomizes this more that I, fighter, survivor, inspire my friend.

Some of you will have been born with debilitating back problems like me, ask yourself "Have they defeated…or empowered you? Some of you will have worked the most demanding and laborious job, the kind of job that progressively destroys even the strongest of bodies. Has it defeated…or empowered you?"

William, anything else you would like to share with others about growing an online business?

I was asked recently, when are you going to Retire? You were in the Air Force 23 years, at Philip Morris for 30 Years and an Elder since 1978. So when do you plan to retire? I said to myself, there is so much now available on the internet, it’s easy to find something you would like to do to maintain your interest in life, or even start a new one.

As I approach my Middle years of life, I am very comfortable with this question as it has been asked and answered. I will be working in my business and on my passions until the Lord calls me home. I cannot imagine life without the thought of truly living until the end.

You see, we know a secret that the vast horde of the retired either does not know or came to understand too late; work invigorates, energizes, and exercises facilities which otherwise quickly enervate and deteriorate. In other words, productive, meaningful work is essential to staying young, alive,and alert. So let’s review all the reasons why retirement as generally practiced and understood is one of the worst things you can ever do to yourself.

1) Retirement rots the Brain.

If you have work you like, one reason you fancy it is because you have meaningful questions to answer challenges to face and labor to do. Work as Sigmund Freud well understood, is crucial to the well-lived life. Take away work which engages your full attention, experience,and expertise and knowledge that you are engaged in something worth doing.

2) Retirement leads to physical deterioration.

The presentation of our laborless peers is very, very different. Having nothing better to do then contemplate physical infirmities and eternity, they are often peevish, selfish, with vistas narrowing, hope evaporating. It is easy to see why physical problems and limitations abound.

3) Retirement reduces your ability to help others.

Have people benefited from what you know and can do? Has the need for this knowledge and skill abated in any way? Or is it robust as ever? If the latter, then why (except for purely selfish reasons) would you ever want to stop helping? Stop transforming and Enlightening? It makes utterly no sense…no sense at all.

The best careers are always about the good you do to others. Retire and that important ability declines day by day painfully, inevitably.
